INTRODUCTION

The Master of Business Administration (“MBA”) is a programme awarded by Alzette University. The programme will be managed and promoted by Alzette University

 

Programme Aims:

The aim of the is to develop and enhance the understanding of emerging theories and practices on contemporary management with an increasing emphasis on strategic and international management. The facilitates a critical exploration of the role of business in a complex multi-stakeholder society, and the connectedness of business with society and the increasingly global and networked economy.

 

The programme will provide participants with the leadership and managerial behaviors, essential skills as well as the advanced knowledge and understanding of international business and strategic management.

 

The programme follows a work-based and problem-based learning approach, and participants will be expected to demonstrate how they have utilized their learning and development in solving business related issues and problems by integrating and building on perspectives from the course and the literature, and their own contexts.

 

 

Programme Learning Outcomes

Students graduating from it will be able to:

(a) Use self-assessment, reflection, evaluation, feedback and developments in theory and evidence-based practice to improve their ethical business practice in a variety of contexts.

 

(b) Apply a deep understanding of relevant theory and practices to predict outcomes and create business solutions in complex environment. 

 

(c) Communicate key issues effectively and creatively using numerical, graphical, oral and written skills.

 

(d) Behave, lead and govern organizations in an ethical manner.

 

(e) Setting strategy, direction and vision, providing a clear sense of purpose and driving strategic intent for an organization.

Programme & Curriculum Structure

In designing this programme, the prior qualifications and corporate experiences of participants are taken into consideration in order to ensure a programme which builds on their prior knowledge and skills.

 

 

RATIONALE

Global business today and the rapid growing trend of the Asia-Pacific rim have fostered a demand for eclectic knowledge and skills. ‘Multi-skilled, Multi-Disciplinary & ‘Cross– cultural Business Perspective has gained tremendous popularity over the recent years. Business organizations and recruitment agencies suggest that employers value job applicants who can demonstrate both specific skills as well as broad knowledge of business. There is an increasing demand for workers armed with global perspectives, effective skills, and a wide spectrum of knowledge, expertise and skill.

 

There has been a pressing demand for certified qualifications in business and management, in a variety of specialist areas. Our programme aims to equip students with a holistic view of business functions and empower them with essential skills and experience.

 

This programme is designed in a Sequential Modular System to cater to every type of academic and career development motive. The programme is based on growing demands of the work place and the Global Competitive Forces, the need to be a notch above the rest is a common trend of recent times. Students may choose minors based on their interest, career ambitions, job scope, employment developments, or merely to state one’s desire to be multi-faceted and continue on the pathway of life –long learning.

 

To graduate with the International Master of Business Administration the student is required to complete 8 standard core modules.

 

ADMISSION CRITERIA

Students of 23 years of age and above with Bachelor levels or its equivalent will be assessed on a case-to-case basis and be directed by the programme leader. This Master programme consisting of 8 modules which can be completed over a period of 1 years to 1.5 years of study (Without Breaks & if exemptions apply). Upon completion, the student gains entry into the Doctorate level.

a. Bachelor’s Degree qualification in any subject from a recognized institution.

b. A professional qualification equivalent to a degree and a minimum of two years of working experience.

c. Mature and high potential candidates without degree or   equivalent qualifications but hold Diplomas or Advanced Diplomas with more than six years of work experience of which at least two years are at supervisory / managerial level.

d. Mature and high potential candidates without Diploma qualifications but with more than eight years of work experience of which at least three years are at supervisory/managerial levels.

e. Demonstrate English Language proficiency in order to participate in the programme taught in English

 

 

Exemption and Credits

Accredited Prior Learning and Experience

It is envisaged that students should attend all the modules on the programme and undertake all assessments required. It is not anticipated that exemptions will be allowed on the Master programme. However, under exceptional circumstances, if an individual is able to satisfy Alzette University that they have already achieved the required level of competence and appropriate knowledge and understanding in certain areas, they may be exempt from undertaking particular modules and/or learning activities.
